Parallels Desktop 6 beat VMware Fusion 3.1 in 92% of the 3D graphics tests and 84% of the general tests
RENTON, WA; January 5, 2011: Parallels today announced that a benchmark study from MacTech found Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac "beat VMware Fusion 3.1 in 92% of the 3D graphics tests" and "84% of the general tests." The labs pitted the two leading commercial virtualization products against each other in more than four thousand tests examining the performance of Windows XP and Windows 7 applications on four different Mac models: the "White" MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac Pro. Virtualization gives Mac users the ability to run any Windows-only applications, from Internet Explorer to graphics-intensive programs like AutoCad. In order to give a real world view, the benchmark tested the performance of some of these off-the-shelf applications. In the tests, MacTech found that " for the successive launches in all of the Microsoft Office Suite, Parallels Desktop was faster."
