This course is designed to introduce participants to the main features of Parallels Business Automation and includes demonstrations of the product features. Attendees will learn how to administer a multi-server, multi-platform environment using Parallels Business Automation and practice administering hosting service provider (HSP) sites. This course provides step by step instructions and information about Parallels Business Automation’s features, functions, configuration, and maintenance. The "Initial Implementation" module includes basic knowledge about Parallels Business Automation’s overall functions and how they relate to each other. Subsequent modules give administrators knowledge about the system and the business administration of multi-layer hosting structure, including management of the service provider, resellers (optional), and customers. The final module is an introduction to system maintenance, customization, and integration.
Parallels Business Automation Basic Administration course or Parallels Business Automation On-Line Administration course is a minimum curriculum required for all new Parallels Business Automation customers. Two day Parallels Business Automation Administration course is highly recommended!
This course is divided into several modules. Most modules contain topics with subject descriptions followed by on-screen demonstrations. At the end of modules, participants will be evaluated on the subjects learned.
Introduction
Brief introduction to the issues faced by hosting providers and a description of Parallels Business Automation’s main features and advantages.
Architecture Overview
Introduction to HSP site. Description of a typical Parallels Business Automation deployment including integration with Virtuozzo, Plesk, Sitebuilder, and Dedicated Servers. Brief introduction to Parallels Business Automation structure including the account hierarchy and administration tools.
Initial Implementation
Basic operations using the Provider Control Center (PCC). Initial service settings including: IP pools allocation, name server assignment, domain registration, Virtuozzo and Plesk Hardware Node registration, OS and application template installation. On-line payment system settings. Hosting plan creation and provisioning via the on-line store. Customer subscription. Payment process.
System Administration
Security system. Domains administration. External server management including: Virtuozzo, Plesk, Sitebuilder, and Dedicated Servers.
Business Administration
Billing system set-up including: payment processing features, payment plug-in modules, credit card and Bank Transfer processing, recurring billing, fraud protection, credit terms, partner levels, discounts, promotions, taxation. Commerce activity on creating and selling various hosting plans. Document processing.
Channel Management (optional)
Making system ready for reselling HSP resources. Creating channels manually and on-line. Provider and reseller actions.
Customer Functionality
Working with the customer Control Panel and mail-user My Control Panel. Account, system, and site administration. Managing Plesk resources.
Event Management
Tracking events and planning actions on events.
System Maintenance
VPS maintenance: backup and restore, repair, destroy, migrate. Service level management. Integration tools. Help desk. Parallels Business Automation customization. Troubleshooting tools.
Not included in the course. Applicable for on-site training only.
The attendees should be familiar with the following subjects.
HSP and reseller staff responsible for system and business administration, accounting, and partner management. The course implies that attendees already have experience working with Parallels Business Automation or analogue products and need upgrade of their knowledge.
