Parallels Automation streamlines the delivery of virtual private servers (VPS) created with Parallels Virtuozzo Containers technology. This includes fully automated ordering, provisioning, billing/chargeback, and user notifications. Tight integration with Virtuozzo Containers allows service providers to manage the applications and the quality of service parameters:

• Add applications when the VPS is provisioned or when requested by users
• Set CPU limits for the VPS as well as priorities for using spare CPU cycles
• Set memory limits for the VPS as well as options for using spare memory
• Set disk limits for the VPS and manage upgrades

All quality of service parameters such as CPU, memory, and disk space can be linked to service templates so users can select the options that they need. Several additional parameters such as sockets, processes, TCP connections, and others can also be specified.

Fully Managed and Client Managed Services

Parallels Automation allows datacenter owners to deliver two types of virtual servers, a fully managed virtual server with web access or a virtual private server with root access.

1. Fully Managed VPS. A fully managed virtual server provides users with the computing power they need without the complexities of server management. Clients use a web front end to manage their server and can easily add resources and applications that they are willing to pay for.
2. Client Managed VPS. A client managed virtual server provides users with root access so they can manage their environment directly through the use of command lines and server scripts. Clients still use the Parallels Automation front end to order additional resources for their server.

Parallels Automation allows all customers can order, maintain, and pay for services online so that the decision to buy or upgrade results in immediate service delivery.
