Parallels is committed to constantly improving its products with the goal of delivering software that sets the industry standard. SiteBuilder 3.2 for Windows is the next step in the evolution of Parallels’s next generation, easy to use website building software. The product has been enhanced with many customer suggestions and feedback, as well as input from the Microsoft team.
SiteBuilder 3.2 for Windows is the latest version of Parallels’s innovative web site building software. Now, hosting service providers can deploy and manage extremely large groups of sites, allowing hosting providers to more efficiently administer and easily oversee substantial groups of users.
Plus, in this new release, plain static files are published that can be served by any HTTP server. Neither ASP.NET nor IIS is required to publish static sites giving hosting service providers more options to choose from. The new web-based user interface allows administrators to quickly and easily update the software by making the software’s core components more readily available.
As part of Parallels’s OPEN FUSION initiative, SiteBuilder 3.2 is integrated with Virtuozzo, making this a complete solution combining the industry leading provisioning system along with an easy to use web site building interface.
Major Features and Improvements:
Improved Scalability – This new version of SiteBuilder supports clustered deployment, which allows hosting providers to scale-out the application across a set of machines.
Extended Server Application Support – Plain static files are published that can be served by any HTTP server. Neither ASP.NET nor IIS is required to publish static sites. This also means a significant performance improvement even when sites are published to an ASP.NET-enabled location. IIS can serve static HTML files many times faster than before.
Target Location Search – In order to help administrators and end-users to better identify the publishing location setup and provisioning issues, a new Target Location Probing functionality is now available. In this version, SiteBuilder validates the publishing location settings before attempting to publish a site, indicating exactly what is wrong. For example: incorrect FTP credentials for the target location; URL of publishing location does not match FTP settings; target location doesn’t support ASP.NET when attempting to publish the site with dynamic content and more.
Shared and Private SiteBuilder VZ Templates – In this version, hosting service providers can either have shared or private SiteBuilder VZ Templates. The shared SiteBuilder VZ templates allow hosting providers to install a single instance of SiteBuilder per Hardware Node. All Plesk 7.6.1 instances installed in all VPSes are integrated against this SiteBuilder instance. No setup is required. For private SiteBuilder VZ Templates, hosting providers can install a separate SiteBuilder instance onto a VPS to be used only by a Plesk 7.6.1 instance working within the same VPS.
Web Update UI - Hosting providers will no longer have to browse through Add/Remove Programs dialog over Remote Desktop connection. All installed and available SiteBuilder components are displayed on a Web page readily available for administrators.
