Parallels announces release of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Linux 4.7
Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Linux version 4.7 provides significant new features and strengthens your ability to deliver profitable cloud services.
New kernel
This release comes with a new kernel based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6). This kernel provides a number of improvements, including better performance, optimized process handling, better memory addressability, enhanced resource control and stability.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and CentOS6 support
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and CentOS6 are supported as both the Host and Guest operating system. You can now install the release on servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or CentOS6 and use this operating system for creating new Containers.
New memory management scheme
Parallels Server Bare Metal introduces VSwap, a new scheme for managing memory-related parameters in Containers that makes it easy for users to specify RAM and Swap amounts for a Container, effectively enabling it to behave like a dedicated machine.
IPv6 support
This release provides full support for using IPv6 addresses with Containers, including IPv6 support by Parallels Virtual Automation.
