As an architect, I love using my Mac for most things, but some software that I must use is Windows only, including Revit by Autodesk. Parallels makes it seem like the Windows apps are running natively in Mac and even printers and clipboard functions go back and forth. Parallels was one of the best purchases for my business outside of my Macbook Pro!

I have been using Parallels to run PC Window based Elearning development software on my iMac.
I have been very impressed with how well it works within the Mac OS environment and this has been a great solution for me.
If you're looking to run windows program's within your mac, whilst still being able to use Mac program's, then this is a great solution.
    Highly recommend.

Because there are still programs that you can't use on Mac, Parallels allows me to work with these as if they were apple programs. It's so fluent, that I don't even realise that an attachment has used a windows program to view it.

Have been using Parallels since version 6. Each update gets better and easier to use. Runnning a virtual machine can be very complicated but they do a great job of making it easy. If you want to dig in to the advanced features you can, or you can go with the basics and keep it simple. Each version has been very stable and I've had very few issues. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that I've had an occassional problem when upgrading and the Knowledge Base support info on the website could be easier to use. I've often had better results searching for soutions on Google than within Parallels support. But really that's true of many websites. Overall a great product.

I was a bit concerned about compatibility with my business applications that can only be run under Windows. With Parallels Desktop 9, they all work perferctly and the swiping between iOS and Windows is just like swiping between two apps, rather than two different operating systems. Parallels is a must for everybody who needs to use Windows apps under iOS. I have been using it on MacBook Air, 8MB RAM, 256 GB hard disk, for over a month and have not experienced a single issue.

If you really have to resort to Windows for those programs where there is no Mac alternatiive (there are only 2 for me), then this is the seamless way to do it. Running on a virtual machine on my Mac, it actually runs faster than native Windows on my work PC! Switch between OSX and WIndows at the click of a mouse, even copy and paste and access data and files between operating systems. Sensibly priced and well supported.

  • Parallels with Mavericks

I use a MacBook Pro with thunderbolt running mavericks also iPad I love the way Paralells integrates invisibly with Mac OSX you almost wouldn't know you have windows just click the programme as you would if it was a Mac programme. As well as allowing us to use 2 essential programmes that we need having windows is also excellent for searching our network of windows and Lynux servers. Apple OSX is really awful for that. Perhaps if we had Apple Servers it would be good but it just won't search windows servers. Without windows, to pull an image from a windows server you would have to manually look for the files. If the picture has just been added to the server you can sort by date and then the required picture is at the top but you just cannot otherwise search for a file from the Mac unless you have windows. It would be great if Apple addressed that issue.
Another ace feature of parallels is that you can seamlessly copy paste between windows and Apple platforms.
It would be great if there was a low cost or free update to ensure compatibility when Mac updates its operating systems. I had not had Paralells long before Mavericks came out and was not happy to have to buy Paralells again for it to work.
Being able to access the same software on my iPad is great I don't use it that often but sure it could be indispensable for the many that use the iPad for work.
Ideally the programmes I use would be compatible with Mac and Mac would search servers as good as windows but as that is not the case a Mac with Paralells is the next best thing for sure. I would not like to have to Dual Boot or have to use my Mac like a PC. I highly recommend Parallels

I have been using parallels on my Macbook air for about 10 years now, when I Up-graded my macbook air earlier this year, i upgraded my parallels, it has never let me down, most of the time i leave it open so i can switch between mac and parallels at the swipe of my fingers, but if i do turn it off, it loads in seconds, i use it for all my design packages that I can't yet run from mac, my school have used several different VM ware and none of them are stable, I will eventually persuade them to use parallels. I wouldn't use anything else.

  • Parallels plus Windows 7 works better than a Real PC

    • by Bill Bekenn

I have been very impressed with Parallels. It frees me form the need to grapple with the world of real PC's with their tendency to slow down and need rebuilding form time to time. The coherence mode provides a Mac like interface while running PC Office, a very nice combination. I need to run Microsoft Office 2010 (PC) for large Excel based workbooks, as the Mac Excel 2011 is very much slower and has some stability problems. The first thing I noticed when using Parallels was that I could boot OsX, and load Parallels and Windows 7 in less than half the time that a PC would spend just loading Windows. The fact that Parallels provides a virtual set of hardware (all managed by OsX) means that Windows 7 does not have to manage the hardware and so runs a lot better than on a PC. I have always considered Mac much better at handling hardware interfaces than a PC. So now I can run a Windows system that handles hardware well.

I was amazed at the performance of Parallels in running windows on a Mac. Couple of years back when I tried using VMs (not parallels), I was not impressed due to lack of good user experience and slow performance. Stepping into this again after so many years and experiencing Parallels was just so great. I don't think I'll be testing any other product any more now. Parallels is just what I needed. The trackpad control is MUCH better than the Ubuntu native implementation. In the native, I found the trackpad to be unusable on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The Parallels version seems to behave just like the Mac. Very nice.

I previously used VM Ware Fusion, but recently made the move to Parallels. In the past, neither program had telephone support, just email support. Now that Parallels offers incredibly knowledgeable telephone tech support, coupled with a new superbly streamlined interface, the choice was simple. And the fact that Apple retail stores sell only Parallels and not competitive offerings added credibility to my decision to use Parallels.

  • It just works!

I ended up with Parallels because I wanted to run a couple of old Windows XP MMORPG's on a new MacBook Pro running OSX Mavericks. The competition ranged from bad to awful, performance was abysmal, mouse ponderous and laggy, very low frame rates. I had all but given up on the idea when I came to try Parallels.

Parallels was the most expensive option and so I looked at it last, I think it was about £20 more than the most expensive alternative. Well it's worth every penny in my opinion, my games fly, even with all the settings maxed, running at resolutions never dreamt of back in the day, it produces three digit frame rates. Even multi-boxing, running three or four game clients at the same time only slows it marginally, perhaps going from 120 down to a still more than adequate 60 or 70 frames per second.

Other than blistering performance there's plenty of other reasons to choose Parallels. It's my first Mac and it's taking a bit of getting used to after being a Windows user since version 1.0. Of all the solutions I tried Parallels offers the most polished and intuitive interface, requires the least intervention, it's just a far better product than anything else out there right now. I love it and recommend it without reservation. After several weeks of gaming I can report that it's rock solid, no hangs or crashes, perfect integration with Apple Time Machine, I just can't fault it.

I switched from a PC in October 2013 to a MacBook Pro. I love my Mac, but really was missing using WordPerfect, for in my work I create a lot of booklets, and MS Word just does not do it as easily as WordPerfect. I was using Bootcamp, but having to restart my computer to use it was inconvenient. So, having read about Parallels, I downloaded it. Super simple installation, and it took all the Windows 7 information from my Bootcamp partition without me having to do anything special. I very highly recommend Parallels for anyone who has to run a PC only program on a Mac!!

Parallels Desktop 9 is a great way of being able to run Windows or any other OS on a Mac, allowing immediate access to the OS without having to reboot. I have one or two Windows apps for which there are no comparable Mac products and running a Windows virtual machine under Parallels I can effortlessly switch to these apps and transfer information between them and a Mac app. It's also great for trying out a new Mac OS by setting it up as a virtual machine so you can decide whether to upgrade your current OS. I would certainly recommend Parallels Desktop 9.

I run a one-man PC repair business and use a Mac as my main machine for obvious reasons and not least because I have to have a working machine at all times. My invoicing system is built on WordPerfect and Paradox Database. The choice was to redesign for NeoOffice or run Parallels. Very easy decision way back with Parallels 3. I've never looked back and love being able to keep old versions of Windows on my Mac for reference and to be able to play with lots of kinds of Linux. I currently have five VMs including the awful Windows 8! It's never let me down so I strongly recommend it. If anything Windows works faster on my Mac than it would on a PC.

Highly recommended - I am using a Bootcamp partition and run Parallels with this using Windows 8.1. Would recommend upgrade of RAM though to at least 8GB as was slow until I did this.

  • Ideal solution for Mac owners with a Windows program they have to use.

Parallels brings the best of Windows in a Mac environment... I use it to run Windows 7 in my MacBook Pro, and Windows run more efficiently than in a PC environment. Updates, backups, up-time, down-time, runs faster. All peripherals are available and switching between systems is a breeze. And then in coherence mode, its like the fusion of PC and Mac world.

I purchased Parallels about 12 months ago when moving from a lifetime of Windows OS in their various (confusing) guises to Macs. I had a Windows version of Photoshop which I wanted to retain because the cost of a new, Mac based program was for me, uneconomic. Having Windows on my Mac at least initially was also a comfort blanket for me. Parallels did what it claims to do - transferred my Windows system across effortlessly and by cradling the manual and the website, allowed me to make the correct choice of how I would use windows on my Mac. It has since performed faultlessly. The need to have a security blanket has long since gone as anyone moving across will tell you. Windows plays nicely on my iMac, or at least as well as it ever did on my PC, updates itself as required etc. When Windows loads, it is spooky at first because it looks exactly as it did on my old PC. Every program "works" and the Mac system shows up in Explorer so that i can easily transfer data files between the two systems using drag and drop. Yes, it does appear to have with it a sometimes noticeable time lag, and this increases if Time Machine is doing a backup but that is to be expected. Photoshop is really demanding on either system. Technical: iMac running Mavericks 10.9.2 , 8Gb 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7, Windows 7

Indispensable program for migrating programs and information between two previously operating systems that were exclusive of each other. It would be similar to having one-hundred percent communication and agreement at the General Security Council of the United Nations.

    I highly recommend this product.
It has helped me get the best of both worlds (mac and windows) on my MacBook Pro.
Parallels has allowed me to use software not compatible with mac on my "parallel" windows on my mac laptop!
For example, in my clinic my Electronic Medical Records software runs best on Mac system. However, believe it or not, our clinic's Practice Management software (billing and scheduling) does not run on mac. Parallels solved this for me.
    Love it.

working with parallels is very easy and useful, but you must have, at least, 8 GB RAM.
Mac OS + windows 7 take about 6 GB.
i tried to use in a 4 GB mac air but it didn't work - it runs very slow.
but, of course, it's worth it.

This product runs quickly and flawlessly as advertised. I use it with Microsoft's Office Suite with no issues at all. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to use a few desired programs on the Microsoft Windows side while keeping your Mac side, both working flawlessly along side each other is perfect harmony. Way to go Parallels!

Using an Apple Mac-mini at home is a great experience, most of the open-source software I use is available cross-playform and runs on an Apple Mac.
But, there are a couple of commercial applications that I have used for years in Windows that are mission critical for some of my hobby work - Parralels is a great solution.
Running Wndows in a virtual machine integrates seemlessly with thw Mac, and the speed of the virtual machine is great - even on my old 2009 Mac-mini.
Copying the virtual machine so that I can run older internet browsers in Windows XP is great for web-design work too; and even running a virtual Linux machine is an option.
All of these options mean that Parallells for Mac is great for my developer work, my hobbies and anything else I can throw at it.

I am amazed how much this product has emerged. With the processors in modern macs - including my 2012 Macbook Pro it just flies. When working in Word or Excel I experience no difference than working on a 'real' PC. Its fast, fluid, stable and easy to use. In fact, it actually feels easier to set up and operate than a native PC as I can use Mac commands

Having transferred to Apple I was missing my simulators until I found this great programme. It enables me to use ay Mac as a Mac and as an Microsoft machine . The interface is seamless and has stood the test of time. I love my Mac but equally find Parallels a boon to interface with my sinulatords.

Parallels is an easy to use - and inexpensive way to be able to use your Microsoft software and applications on a n Apple computer.
Install Parallels first and then install a copy of Microsoft Windows - it is a easy as that! Switching between Apple sand Microsoft is very easy using the shortcuts provided by Parallels. A "must have" application for people who have Microsoft and Apple.
