Course Overview

The Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Windows Administration course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge of Virtuozzo for Windows, including its purpose, features, functionality, installation procedure, configuration, maintenance and support. The course contains extensive hands-on lab training. Participants will learn how to install and configure Virtuozzo, explore different operating modes, and perform various tasks.

Course Content

The course is divided into several modules accompanied with appropriate lab training. Most modules contain topics with subject descriptions followed by on-screen demonstrations. At the end of topics, participants will be evaluated on the subjects learned.

• Product Overview
  Introduction to Virtuozzo. Purpose, main features. Typical range of applications. Usage scenarios. Virtualization concept.

• Installation
  Hardware and System requirements. Installation procedure. Virtuozzo and Windows update. Getting familiar with Parallels Management Console. Product licensing. Windows operating system licensing in virtualization environment.

• Basic Operations
  Getting-started like module describing creation of Containers and basic operations with Containers. The topic is useful for system administrators who are not familiar with Virtuozzo yet.

• Web based Management Tools
  Using Parallels Infrastructure Manager to manage Hardware Nodes, Containers and enterprise information infrastructure based on virtualization. Using Parallels Power Panel to manage individual Containers.

• Template management
  Template management in Virtuozzo. Installation of a template-based application into Containers. Creating and updating templates.

• Resource management
  Managing resources used by different Containers. QoS parameters.

• Network Configuration
  Routed and bridged modes. VLAN technology in Virtuozzo. Using GUI and command line to setup different network modes.

• Advanced Administration
  Number of advanced Virtuozzo topics, not covered by previous chapters. Providing access for Containers to Host files. Getting access to Host devices. Microsoft network browsing. Cluster technology.
