Parallels Virtuozzo Containers strengthens SITS Group’s virtualisation portfolio
London, UK — 19 January, 2009 — Virtualisation and automation specialist Parallels today announced that SITS Group, a Northern UK-based professional services organisation is offering customers its server virtualisation tool, Parallels Virtuozzo Containers. The product gives users greater utilisation from their server hardware by creating virtual servers or "containers" so that multiple isolated workloads can run simultaneously. Focused purely on virtualisation, SITS Group joins a growing number of partners and resellers that see Parallels Virtuozzo Containers as a strong and unique alternative to hypervisor-based products currently on the market.
"With Parallels Virtuozzo Containers in our portfolio we finally have the missing piece of the jigsaw. As a virtualisation specialist, we can now offer our customers a clear alternative to traditional hypervisor technologies," said Phil Cambers, Commercial Director at SITS Group Ltd. "Virtualisation has proven to be a valuable asset for any company, but the benefits could be short-lived if the wrong technology choices are made. We will be recommending Parallels to customers that are seeking to host high performance applications as there is little or no performance degradation, which is absolutely key to ensuring consistency of service. In addition, the density offered by Parallels Virtuozzo Containers makes it ideal for Virtual Desktop Infrastructures."
Parallels Virtuozzo Containers sits on the operating system (OS) level, rather than directly on top of the hardware, resulting in higher density and performance levels than other server virtualisation products on the market. This offers SITS Group the opportunity to fulfil a wide range of client requirements with tried and trusted solutions. As the only professional services organisation dedicated to virtualisation in the North, SITS is also the ideal partner for resellers in this region that lack the expertise but are seeking to capture opportunities from the technology.
"There is a clear ROI in seeking expertise on virtualisation from professional services," added Cambers. "In the current environment, capacity planning and configuration of virtualisation technologies are a major value add for us. Now that we have been certified as a Parallels gold partner, end user organisations and resellers across the North will benefit from our access to preferential pricing and ongoing support in terms of technical expertise and training."
Russell Blackburn, Country Manager UK and Ireland, Parallels said: "In the UK, SITS has exceptional experience coupled with an in-depth knowledge of virtualisation. It’s clear that more and more organisations up and down the country will need to source outside expertise if they are to truly benefit from virtualisation where there is a high degree of complexity and the market is still being educated. This is particularly the case in new growth areas such as "Virtual Desktop Infrastructures." We look forward to working alongside SITS to help the growing number of organisations adopting virtualisation to realise the benefits that Parallels brings to this exciting market place."
