SWsoft Launches “FUSION,” the New Enterprise Consolidation Program for Fortune 1000 Corporate Legacy Systems.
Herndon, VA – July 28, 2003 – SWsoft, Inc. a leader in hosting data center automation and virtualization, today announced FUSION, an enterprise server consolidation program utilizing Virtuozzo™ virtualization and resource management software. The new program will allow thousands of legacy Windows NT and UNIX systems to seamlessly consolidate to dozens of more powerful and secure servers. FUSION and Virtuozzo™ allow IT managers to immediately begin a server consolidation project without modification of existing applications or retraining of staff.
"With thousands of legacy servers running early WinNT and UNIX OS still in production at corporate IT departments and degrading Service Levels, IS managers are faced with the challenge of upgrading this legacy infrastructure without incurring the burden of buying new boxes for each one of those obsolete servers as well as high management costs” said Serguei Beloussov, CEO and founder of SWsoft. “Our Virtuozzo-powered FUSION program provides clear answers to this challenges allowing customers to drastically cut the cost of upgrading and management of the hardware and migrating its applications, by consolidating dozens of obsolete servers into single x86 box."
As the market leader and the #1 provider of hosting data center automation and virtualization software, SWsoft is leveraging its expertise, technologies and financial strength to move into the enterprise data center arena. Designed specifically for enterprise customers that would like to benefit from the cost savings associated with server consolidation, the FUSION program has already provided the answer for one Fortune 100 firm that was looking to replace and upgrade servers, increase Service Levels and make the move from older obsolete WinNT and UNIX applications to the Linux OS. SWsoft has obtained IBM ServerProven Certification for Virtuozzo on all of the IBM xSeries Intel based server line.
With Virtuozzo Windows release quickly approaching with customers already beta-testing the software, SWsoft has received several inquiries from additional Fortune 1000 companies who are eagerly awaiting its arrival. Virtuozzo™ for Windows is on track to release later this year and SWsoft has already begun plans to immediately integrate it into the FUSION program.
The components of FUSION include:
Virtuozzo OS virtualization software lets IT managers slice Intel servers into Virtual Private Servers (VPS), each VPS functionally identical to a dedicated server, with resource control and complete isolation. Virtuozzo solves the problems of scalability and efficiency inherent in the virtual machine technology sold by VMware and Connectix, which can only utilize 1 CPU and 4GB of memory per each virtual machine/partition and could only run less than 10 partitions on most of conventional servers. In comparison, Virtuozzo can scale a single partition to 16 CPUs and 64 GB of RAM, and could run over 2500 partitions on a single server with less than a percentage point for virtualization overhead. Scalability and Efficiency are vital to enterprise applications, which need the full resources of a larger production server.
Virtuozzo is also the only virtualization technology which provides a Single Point of Management “Manage-Once” Architecture, that enables sharing of most of the management operations for all of the VPSs and allows to mass-manage thousands of VPSs and hundreds of physical servers ONCE from a single console. Further, the high-availability features of Virtuozzo allow IT departments to completely avoid planned downtime through online migration of VPSs between physical servers.
