Virtuozzo Physical to Virtual (VZP2V)
Virtuozzo Physical to Virtual (VZP2V) is an easy to use tool that assists with a successful server migration from a standalone physical server to a Virtuozzo server.
Why use VZP2V?
- Ensure that your physical server performs the same or better when moved to Virtuozzo
- Monitor physical server usage at any point in time or monitor for peaks and valleys in processing
- Automatically create a Virtuozzo configuration specifically tailored for your physical server’s requirements
- Ease the transition from a physical to a virtual server, leaving the physical server intact initially for a back-up
How do I deploy VZP2V?
Step 1: Assess your physical server
One of the most important steps to migrating a server is to realistically evaluate the server and its computing processing loads existing on the physical server. VZP2V comes complete with a utility that monitors an existing physical server. The server load can be evaluated in a current snapshot, or it can be evaluated over time to measure processing peaks and valleys.
Step 2: Evaluate your server
Once all of the data on the server has been captured, the tool provides an overview for last minute changes to the Virtuozzo configuration.
Step 3: Migrate the server & Configuring the VE
Preparing to migrate the physical server to a virtual server, the tool provides the recommended configuration and resource parameters for migration. Linux distributions, quotas and other configurations are verified. You select the configuration created based upon your physical server profile, or you may select another pre-configured profile. At this time networking and other specifications may be entered and the migration starts.
Step 4: Migration Complete
Once the migration is complete, the VE is shown with all configurations and specifications for the final review.
