Course Overview

The course is designed to train participants on the main features of Parallels Business Automation and includes extended lab exercises. Attendees will learn how to administer a high scalable, multi-server, multi-platform environment using Parallels Business Automation and practice administering hosting service provider (HSP) sites. This course provides step by step instructions and information about Parallels Business Automation’s features, functions, configuration, and maintenance. The "Product Overview" module includes basic knowledge about Parallels Business Automation’s overall functions and integration with external provisioning systems. Subsequent modules give administrators in-depth knowledge of the business administration of multi-layer hosting structure, including management of the service provider, resellers, and customers. The final module is an introduction to system maintenance and customization. Training modules are accompanied by lab exercises including initial system configuration, payment system configuration, creation, and testing of different service plans, working with subscriptions and billing documents, arranging partnership with resellers, and system maintenance.

Course Content

This course is divided into several modules. Most modules contain topics with subject descriptions followed by on-screen demonstrations. At the end of modules, participants will be evaluated on the subjects learned.

• Product Overview
  Brief introduction to the system infrastructure and its integration with external provisioning systems through gates. Security components: accounts, users, roles, and privileges. User interface. Provisioning concepts based on service plans, subscriptions, and order processing. Billing system: documents, modes, resource billing and provisioning. Payment processing: processing centers, payment systems, and payment methods. Sample process including purchase of a service, billing, provisioning, and management.

• General System Configuration
  Introduction to management features provided by control panel. Setting provisioning infrastructure. Configuration of credit terms and service terms. Product configuration settings: service templates, resources, and service plans. Configuration of price components, discounts, promotions, and taxes. Setting the e-commerce online store.

• Operations Management
  Order processing as the main automation mechanism. Order flow and flow templates, order types, order handlers, and order queues. Subscription management: properties, daily billing process, upgrade and downgrade. Event management. Notification types, methods, and templates. Customer care by means of individual and mass operations. Setting and operating trouble ticket based help desk system.

• Security System
  Protection methods. Authentication strength control. User roles and privileges. Fraud screening. Secure storage. SSL protocol and firewall settings.

• Customer Functionality
  Control panels for managing domains, subscriptions, finance documents, contacts. Managing hosted systems and their resources.

• Channel Management
  Preparing the system for reselling HSP resources. Setting reseller specific service templates and service plans. Billing schemes based on reseller own merchant account or provider’s account. Reseller activity.

• System Maintenance
  Backup and restore. System customization. Online store customization. Performance management. Troubleshooting tools.
