NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER. TO ENTER THE CONTEST YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER AT THE DATE OF ENTRY. FOR SUBMISSIONS BY INDIVIDUALS UNDER 18, A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST AUTHORIZE THE ENTRY PRIOR TO SUBMISSION. ENTRANTS MAY ENTER AS MANY ORIGINAL VIDEOS AS THEY WISH. LIMIT ONE PRIZE PER ENTRANT. THE CONTEST IS OPEN TO US AND FOREIGN RESIDENTS FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

CONTEST DESCRIPTION

Parallels, Inc., an Parallels company, is offering you a chance to enter a promotion described below as part of WHY CHOOSE? Video Contest for the chance to win cool prizes.

ACCEPTATION

Participation constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules. By participating in the contest, entrant is representing and warranting that he/she has read and understood, and agrees to be bound by, these rules. Including the guides and rules referred to herein, these official rules constitute the entire agreement between the entrant and Parallels in relation to the contest. They govern the entrant's participation and supersede any prior agreements between entrant and Parallels and relating to the contest.

ELIGIBILITY

Participants must be at least 18 years of age by the time of submission. Individuals under 18 years of age will need a parent/legal guardian must authorize the entry prior to submission. US and Foreign Residents are welcome to participate. Employees of Parallels and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, advertising agencies, and families, and persons living in the same household as such employees, are not eligible to participate. The WHY CHOOSE? video contest is subject to all national, federal, state and local laws and regulations.

CONTEST PERIOD

The WHY CHOOSE? video contest runs from October 23 – December 9, 2007. All video submissions must be submitted online and received by 11:59 PST on December 9, 2007. No new entries will be accepted after this date.

HOW TO ENTER

To enter the WHY CHOOSE? video contest, the entrant must go to http://www.parallels.com/en/videocontest/submit-video/ (the "Submit a Video Page") and (a) complete and submit the online registration form with your name, age, address, city, state, zip, phone number, email address and active YouTube link to your WHY CHOOSE? video submission. Each entrant must be the named and authorized account holder of the submitted email address in connection with that video entry submission. Without limiting any representations or warranties, Parallels has the right (though not the obligation) to, in Parallels' sole discretion, reject or remove from the websites, servers and computer systems any work that, in Parallels’ reasonable opinion, violates these official rules or any applicable policy or is in any way harmful or objectionable.

VIDEO SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

By entering, each Entrant represents and warrants that the submission is: (a) wholly original; (b) does not incorporate or include anything that would require the consent of any third party; and (c) does not violate any copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right, or any other right of any third party. Video submissions must be no longer than three minutes in length or less. The only accepted file format for consideration will be an active YouTube link. Individual submissions will only be accepted (i.e. no group or team submissions).

JUDGING & SELECTION OF WINNERS

All entries will be judged by Parallel based on concept, originality, script/screenplay and production quality, and award winners that best convey the WHY CHOOSE? spirit. Finalists will be selected on December 16th and the winners will be announced on or about December 28, 2007. If a winner cannot be notified within five (5) days after its selection, or in the event of non-compliance with any of these requirements, the prize will be forfeited, and the entrant having the next highest score will be deemed the winner. The decisions of the judging panel are final on all matters relating to the contest. Limit one prize per entrant.

Winners will be required to have signed and returned to Parallels an affidavit of eligibility, liability/publicity release and royalty-free license within ten (10) days of the date of winning notification, otherwise the prize (if applicable) will be forfeited, and the Entrant having the next highest score will be deemed to be the winner.

PRIZES

The prizes are non-transferable and no substitution by winner or cash equivalent is permitted. Parallels may substitute prize for one of equal or greater value at its sole discretion. Awards will be fulfilled approximately 4-6 weeks after conclusion of the video contest.

  • The grand prize winner will receive a trip for (2) to MacWorld 2008 in San Francisco and a fully-loaded filmmarker’s kit valued at $11,000. The MacWorld 2008 trip includes air-fare and hotel and 2 MacWorld full-conference badges and $500 in spending cash. The filmmaker’s kit featuring a 17” MacBook Pro with 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo2 and 4GB memory, a Sony HDR-SR7 HD 60GB Handycam Camcorder and a bundle of filmmaking software that includes, Apple’s Final Cut Express HD video-editing software and Final Draft screenwriting software. (Estimated Retail Value: $12,000).
  • The 1st runner-up winner will receive a 13” MacBook with Mac OS X Leopard and Windows XP Pro running on Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac
  • The 2nd runner-up winner will receive an Apple 8GB iPhone (Approximate Retail Value: $399)
  • The WHY CHOOSE? People’s Choice winner will receive a Nintendo Wii (Approximate Retail Value: $399)
  • The top 10 finalists will all receive a WHY CHOOSE Starter-Kit that includes: Windows XP Professional & Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac (Approximate Retail Value: $379.99)

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:

By signing the permissions section on the WHY CHOOSE? video contest submission entry form and entering the contest you agree to give Parallels permission to use your name and likeness for promotional purposes without further compensation. Entrant hereby irrevocably grants, transfers, sells, assigns and conveys to Parallels, and each of their respective successors and assigns, all present and future right, title and interest of every kind and nature whatsoever, including, without limitation, all copyrights, and all rights incidental, subsidiary, ancillary or allied thereto (including, without limitation, all derivative rights), in and to the Submissions for exploitation throughout the universe, in perpetuity, by means of any and all media and devices whether now known or hereafter devised (including the right to publish and display Submissions for purposes of advertising, publicity and/or trade, in whole or in part).

Entrant agrees and acknowledges that Parallels, as well as other contestants in this contest, may now or in the future work on or develop an idea or concept for any future media and all formats work similar to your video submission, whether now known or hereafter devised. As such, the entrant hereby holds Parallels harmless and indemnify us against any course of action for similarities in any writing work.

Parallels reserves the right to promote and publicize, through any means available to us, the progress, development, process, news, and success of all entries, in whole or in part, to promote Parallels, the WHY CHOOSE? video contest and future video contests. In addition, Parallels shall have the right, in their sole discretion, to edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate, or alter the Submissions for any purpose which they deem necessary or desirable, without the need for any further compensation by them, and each Entrant irrevocably waives any and all so-called moral rights they may have in the Submission submitted by him or her.
