Following the launch of the Apple Watch, a smartwatch from Sony and rumored similar products from other major players such as Samsung, wearables are really starting to gain steam.

In fact, Apple released its WatchKit software to developers on Nov. 18, including details on how devs can create three types of engagement on the Apple Watch: interactive notifications, “Glances”, and full apps. Check out this full overview from TechRepublic.

The positive attention smartwatches have garnered recently (particularly after Apple announced its iteration) seems to have satisfied some of the skeptics out there. Apple’s Digital Crown feature, for example, won over a few critics who’ve questioned user adoption based on smartwatch size. In addition, Apple updated its website on Black Friday with even more details on how the Apple Watch will integrate with users’ iPhones and their various apps.

Still, you have got to wonder—are smartwatches all talk?

Not if you remember the reaction Tim Cook got when he announced the new gadget back in September. Re-watch it in this 60-second spot from CNN Money.

One thing’s for sure: 2015 is gearing up to be the year for wearables, specifically smartwatches. So, will you be buying one? Or will your smartphone suffice? Let us know in the comments!
