NOTE: Applies to 2X Web Access Portal v. 8.1.905 onward

Since the introduction of IIS7, there have been some adjustments in deploying the 2X Web Access Portal to reduce the level of customization required. The 2X Web Access Portal is fully compliant with IIS7, and requires no IIS6 management tools or scripts to be installed. Here, we describe the new simplified requirements of the latest 2X Web Access Portal.

The following screenshots show the steps necessary to prepare the IIS environment for the 2X Web Access Portal using Windows Server 2008 R2.

1.) Click Add Roles:

2.) Click Next:

3.) Add the Web Server IIS role under the Server Roles tab, and click Next:

4.) Click Next:

5.) Under the Role Services tab, choose Application Development, as well as ASP.NET and .NET Extensibility. After, click Add Required Role Services.

Ensure that the ASP.NET role service is ticked, as other services will be added automatically.
After, click Next.

6.) Click the Install button.

The installation process will now begin.

7.) Once installation completes, click the Close button.

8.) Check that ASP.NET and .NET Extensibility are installed correctly:

9.) Install the IIS Management Scripts and Tools. Click Next when finished.

10.) Click Install.

A short wait time will ensue will installation continues.

11.) Click Close.

12.) Check that Web Server and ASP.NET are installed correctly.

Also verify that the IIS Management Scripts and Tools role service is installed.

13.) The 2X Web Access Portal can now be installed. Go to http://http://www.2x.com/virtualdesktop/downloadlinks.html and download the Windows Web Access Portal 64-bit v.8.1.918 (in .msi format). It is important to save the setup on a local drive, as roaming profiles, shared folders and redirected folders can cause rights errors when installing; thus, use a local drive where possible.

14.) Click Run.

15.) Click Next.

16.) Then read the agreement, mark that you accept it and press the Next button.

17.) Click Next. If the Web Server Port is already in use, a warning should appear.

Click Install and links to the Web Access Portal URLs will appear on your desktop.

Wait while installation completes.

18.) Click Finish.

After, the 2X Web Access Portal page will appear.

If you enter as a domain administrator user, the UPN should look something like this: Administrator@domain.local.
