The Villa Berica Nursing Home – healthcare facility of the GHC spa group – is based in Vicenza and is accredited with the National Health System.
It is considered a specialist center of excellence with a focus on general surgery and internal medicine. Villa Berica provides healthcare services for the diagnosis and treatment of numerous surgical, medical and rehabilitation pathologies—both inpatient and outpatient.
The facility is also a national reference center for diabetes prevention and treatment.
The Group operates through 25 healthcare facilities, located in eight Italian regions (Lazio, Piedmont, Veneto, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Liguria, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Lombardy). It covers all healthcare and social care sectors; ranging from highly complex to medium and low complexity surgery, emergency surgery and medicine, clinical and interventional cardiology, motor, neurological, cardiological and nutritional rehabilitation, extensive and intensive RSAs to comas in a persistent vegetative state, psychiatry and diagnostic centers.
The challenge
The specific demands of medical professionals and healthcare personnel prompted a careful search for a remote work solution, focusing on swift implementation, easy management, and a high level of security and control.
The test
With the support of IFIConsulting specialists, the team was able to quickly verify some key scenarios for the Villa Berica Nursing Home, speed up the implementation, and make a minimal impact on the existing architecture.

The solution
Villa Berica implemented the remote access solution for over 70 doctors and operators. All these users can now work from the clinic and the private practice. Using their own personal devies and a simple browser, the users no longer need to install software to get started. This allows users the maximum freedom of choice of devices, guaranteeing their independence and autonomy. It also relieves the IT team from possible critical situations due to challenges such as the imposition of a client software on the same devices, the remote management of SW for VPN or others.
Security is guaranteed by the HTTPS connection and the two-factor authentication system.

Parallels Secure Workspace hooks into the existing Microsoft AD infrastructure and then connects with RDP protocol to the application servers, both on site and in the data center, as well as to the available network shares"
