How to Add a New Custom Tab in SCCM Software Center

Starting with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 1806, you can add a new custom tab in Software Center. When you add a new custom tab, users can see this new tab when they launch Software Center.

The custom tab can be linked to something that helps users. For example, you could add a custom tab and point it to your ticketing tool, company homepage or documentation.

One of the most interesting facts about the Software Center is the ability to customize it. You can set a company logo, change the look of it, set custom colours and more.

In addition, you can also create Software Center shortcuts. With these shortcuts, users can launch Software Center and open the required tab directly.

Before you begin: The new tab that we are going to add will only be visible if you are using a new Software Center. Under Device Settings, you must set “Yes” for new settings to apply. Otherwise, you will still see the old Software Center.

How to Add a Custom Tab in Software Center

  1. Launch the SCCM console.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Overview > Client Settings.
  3. Right-click Default Client Settings and click Properties.
  4. Select Software Center and click Customize.
  5. Click Tabs and then click Add Tab. Specify the Tab Name and Content URL.
  6. Click Customize to add a new custom tab.

On the Software Center Customization window, select Tabs. Note that you can add up to 5 custom tabs.
To add a new tab, click Add Tab button.

In this example, lets add a custom tab and link it to the Parallels homepage. When the user clicks this tab, they see the landing page of Parallels.com.

Specify the Tab name and Content URL. Click OK. Close the Default Settings window.

You must wait for the changes to update on the client computers.

On the client computer, launch the Software Center. Notice the new custom tab in Software Center.

When the user clicks on the Parallels Homepage tab, it loads the website on the right-hand side. You can browse through the website like you normally do in the browser.
